Nate Diaz vs Khabib Nurmagomedov

T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada was the site of UFC 239 where fans gathered to see a great night of action.

Amanda Nunes got an incredible knockout win over Holly Holm retaining her women’s bantamweight title, Jon “Bones” Jones got a split decision win over Thiago Santos retaining his lightheavyweight title and Jorge Masvidal shocked everyone by delivering the fastest knockout in UFC history knocking out Ben Askren with a flying knee in just five seconds!

It’s safe to say fans got their money’s worth in the ring but what they didn’t know was they were going to be teased a dream fight out of the ring.

As the event was going on, UFC lightweight Nate Diaz walked past current lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov who was sitting ringside. This led to both fighters exchanging words and a near altercation while fans scrambled to record with their phones.

This altercation got fans excited for a potential fight between the two men. Both men will be fighting in the next two months with Nate Diaz taking on Anthony Pettis at UFC 241 on August 17 while Kbabib will take on Dustin Poirier in a UFC lightweight unification bout at UFC 242 on September 7.

So that begs the question: will these two fighters’ paths cross in the octagon? I think this fight all depends on how well Nate Diaz does against Anthony Pettis in August.

Diaz has never been a champion in UFC and has not fought since 2016 when he fought Conor McGregor in a rematch at UFC 202 where he lost by unanimous decision.

Khabib, on the other hand, is the reigning UFC lightweight champion set to face the number two ranked lightweight in a unification bout. For this reason, the fight is much more important for Nate Diaz than it is for Khabib.

It will take a spectacular performance from Diaz to convince fans everywhere that he is prepared to go up against the undefeated champion Khabib. It would certainly be a great fight but I can’t see Nate beating Khabib as he is more active, he is more versatile and has more credible wins.

Would you like to see Nate Diaz and Khabib Nurmagomedov? If so, who do you think would win?
